Montsant declared a Natural Park in 2002, is the symbol of Priorat and Tarragona. To get there you must choose a “grau”, one of the paths that climb up the mountainside. Some are relatively easy, old bridle paths and others only apt for people, steep and occasionally heartstopping!. Montsant offers many hikes, all of different degrees of difficulty, and is also home to an internationally recognised climbing school .At the various Park information points you can find maps, routes and all the information you need.
Siurana is a charming medieval town, the last bastion of resistance to the Muslims in Catalonia, with stone houses and cobbled streets. There are the remains of the Moorish castle, located at the entrance of the village, and the Romanesque church of Santa Maria. The views from this small mountain village are spectacular. Chapel of St. John CodolarThe Chapel of St. John Codolar at the foot of the Montsant blends into the landscape between boulders and Cyprus trees. It can be reached on foot from Cornudella or Albarca but also can be reached by car.
Cooperative Winery Cornudella
A centennial Modernist building, by the architect Cesar Martinell, a disciple of Antoni Gaudí. You can visit the winery every Saturday and Sunday at 12 pm, with wine tasting included. Montsant Nature SL organize various activities related to this wine and others, with reduced rates for groups. Just call 977,821,313 to check rates and schedules.
Situated in a magnificent setting, the Siurana reservoir is ideal for swimming and water sports such as canoeing and kayaking.
